MAF - Sustainable Farming Fund

The purpose of the Sustainable Farming Fund (the Fund) is to support projects that will contribute to improving the financial and environmental performance of the land-based productive sectors. The
Fund aims to help the land based sectors solve problems and take up opportunities to overcome barriers to economic, social and environmental viability. It will do this by bringing together
“communities of interest”. These are groups of people drawn together by a shared problem and/or opportunity in the sustainable use of resources. The Fund focuses on projects that are
practical and show value for money.

Projects funded in the - Local and Regional Environmental Quality Standards category. The intention of this topic area is to provide an incentive for local authorities, research agencies, industry
and non-government organisations to develop national environmental quality standards and guidelines. The aim is also to encourage projects which develop standards or guidelines that adapt or add to
national standards and guidelines. The results of these projects are either transferable to other regions or localities or adapt or provide additional aspects to national guidelines or standards.
They can be used to describe or prescribe technical measures relating to noise; contamination; water quality, level or flow; air quality; or soil quality with respect to the discharge of
contaminants.

MFE - Sustainable Management Fund

Projects funded in the- Economic Instruments category. Funding in this topic area has focused on encouraging initiatives to develop or test the use of economic instruments. Economic instruments

The Environmental, Health and Economic Impacts of Air Pollution in New Zealand

The Health Research Council of New Zealand (HRC), the Ministry for the Environment (MfE) and the Ministry of Transport (MoT) have developed a Joint Research Portfolio (JRP) to investigate some of the
