The Directory

General Overview

The Directory provides a catalogue of resources available for those who are considering developing or refining a sustainable management programme for an industry, sector or organisation.

The Directory is based on the three components of sustainability: Environment, Economic, and Social.

Within each component the key risk areas have been identified. The directory follows a standard format for each risk area:

• Background information, including relevant legislation and regulations
• Codes of Practice, Guidelines and Best Management Practices
• Indicators, Monitoring Resources, Tools and Projects.

The first level provides details on the relevant legislation for the area in consideration. The next level provides information on standards and guidelines which can be linked to a programme. In addition for each component there are examples of programmes or guidelines which maybe of assistance to those who are developing a SMS.
